the faq and rules pages used to mention that users are encouraged to post anonymously, to build community spirit. I was thinking on it, and I've removed both of these instances.

I think it's true that anonymous posting does create a unique sort of community experience, but at the same time, one of marzichan's key goals is to foster connection, and anonymity tends to make such opportunities for connection much more fleeting and rare. I don't want users to feel compelled by the site to post anonymously when that could deprive them of the opportunity to be recognized and make new friends, so please - feel free to use names and trips to your heart's content :)

of course, there's nothing wrong with choosing to post anonymously either, and since this is an imageboard, I'm guessing most users will still choose to post that way most of the time. but there should be no shame in posting with a name or trip here if you'd like to.

as always, feedback is welcome m(_ _)m

I slightly changed the syntax for post formatting.
italics is now two asterisks (previously one), and
bold is now three asterisks (previously two)

it's something I want to be pretty stable, but it annoyed me a little that you couldn't do single asterisk wraps for things like *punches you*

there are a bunch of problems with the quick post form currently - fields that I think should be there but aren't, as well as bugs/usability issues where the file uploader/embed field are inaccessible until you go to the top form and change your attachment selection, etc...

just wanted to say I'm aware of them and would like to fix it, along with other improvements to the post form. the existing quick reply js is very messy, so honestly maybe I should just throw out most of it and write one that doesn't suffer from the same issues. looking at it makes me want to jump ship to another board software like lynxchan, but I realize that might be an overreaction, and I'd have to redo all the modifications I've made here on vichan, so
( ´-ω-`) =3

anyway if you're just a user reading this, rest assured that the top post form still works entirely, and you can always use that one. sorry for the trouble m(_ _)m

been wanting this for a while - the bottom of each thread now features a [Post a Reply] button, assuming you have js enabled. it should open the quick reply form, or open the top form for you if you're close enough. of course, you could've clicked a post number instead, but this way you can open the form without adding a reply link that you'd have to delete :)
oops, looks like it shows on index pages too (but doesn't work). will have to fix tomorrow

I wonder why your posts were being flagged D:

You must've spent too long typing and the secret post forms keys got swapped out. copypaste and f5 sorts that out
theres no sage?
what have you got against sage?
>>141
I think I considered it for a time, but cut it as part of the "simplicity" I wanted. I didn't want to have an "email" field in the traditional way since it feels like an anachronism these days.
I played around with having a drop-down "post options" menu instead, but the only other option would've been noko, and marzichan is an always-noko site (again, simplicity/streamlining), so it felt weird to have an entire section of the post form just for toggling sage on or off. I guess if I ever wanted to add things like fortune rolls or other funposting features, there might be reason to add an option menu.

besides, on a small site like marzichan, do we really need to be so careful about bumps? :^p
all that said, I'm open to input :)

you're right! honestly, I hadn't realized that the catalog theme for vichan also provided an RSS file. the "/thread/" in the urls is an edit I made to the default config, so I broke it without realizing. I just corrected it, so hopefully it should work for you now.
thanks for reporting the issue!! :)

Hello Marzichan!
Since we're now net friends, I figured I'd introduce our site.
https://wapchan.org is mostly focused around retro anime, manga, and games, with a particular focus on the works of Rumiko Takahashi. We also host /kind/, a very relaxed board for kindposting.
Come visit us sometime.
just realized I never responded to this, my bad!
thanks for stopping by and leaving a post. I'll make sure to stop by and post a bit sometime, just as I would encourage anyone reading this to do

Hi! How did you do this that reply links are under the post?
It's very useful and I'd love to apply this to my vichan imageboard.

Thanks! I spent a good while fiddling with all the styling, so even though this site is pretty slow, it's nice to see that people appreciate the work that went into it.

The replies at the bottom is a tweak I made to the vichan show-backlinks.js script, because I thought it looked nicer than the default one. The exact details vary by browser, but if you open your browser's debugger on this site and find the show-backlinks.js file, you can compare it to the stock vichan one and copy my version if you like. There are some other changes in the file, but the section in pic related is specifically what moves them to the bottom and adds the divider line.
whats your vichan imageboard i’d like to see
How about hourly thread limit of 1/hour?
>>36
I'm guessing this was meant to be its own post? Might be a good idea. The site wasn't getting spam until like a week ago so I didn't want to put on limits on activity. Looks like vichan doesn't have a setting for it out of the box, only a setting for time inbetween posts.
